Welcome Letter From Our Program Director
Welcome and thank you for your interest in our Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC).
Our three year ACGME-accredited program is nestled in northern New Jersey, just 15 minutes from New York City. HUMC is the tertiary care flagship hospital of a 17-hospital network that spans the entire state. We are the busiest Emergency Department in the state of New Jersey and considered the 10th busiest across the entire country. With over 140,000 emergency room visits a year, it is part of the largest, most comprehensive health care network in New Jersey. As a level I trauma center, STEMI center, comprehensive stroke center and certified geriatric emergency department, our 75 bed emergency department is strategically engineered to deliver optimal care and education.

Our program takes pride in delivering the highest quality of care to our community while fostering an environment of curious inquiry and innovation in health care delivery. We have fellowship-trained faculty in critical care, emergency medical services, pediatric emergency medicine, medical education, simulation, quality and patient safety, toxicology, telemedicine and ultrasound.

We recognize that every resident is unique in their aspirations and needs during their training, and we are dedicated to training residents in an inclusive environment that delivers culturally competent, patient-centered care. We challenge the educational standard while providing residents with one-on-one mentorship opportunities and individualized learning plans. We are deeply invested in the personal and professional success of our residents knowing that they are not just the future of our specialty, but the future of healthcare.

Thank you for your interest in our program.
